Cooking! Luscious Lip Cookies!

Ingredients

• 14 oz. royal icing
• pink and red food colors
• red edible glitter
• Basic Sugar Cookies (in the shapes of lips)
    • 1 ¾ sticks unsalted soft butter
    • 1 cup of sugar
    • 1 large egg; lightly beaten
    • 3 cups of all purpose flour

Tools

• Electric mixer with paddle attachment
• Plastic wrap
• Large Rolling Pin
• Lip Cookie Cutters
• Small Icing Spatulas
• Paper Decorating Bags


1. In the electric mixer with paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar, until well mixed and jut beocming creamy in texture.

2. Beat in the egg until well combine. Sift in the flour and mix on low speed until a dough forms. Gather it into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill it for a least an hour.

3. Place dough on a floured surface and knead it briefly. Use cookie cutters to cut out the desired shapes and using a spatula, lay these on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Chill again for about 30 minutes and heat the oven to 350 F.

4. Bake for 6 to 10 minutes, depending on size, until golden brown at the edges.

5. Divide the royal icing equally between 2 bowls. Mix one amount of icing with pink food color, the other with red. Add a little water to get a soft peak consistency. Fill one decorating bag with each color.

6. Snip a small tip off each decorating bag and pipe around the sides of the lips in a smooth line. Outline red lips with the red icing and pink lips with the pink icing.

7. Dilute the remaining pink and red icings with a few drops of water to make each a runny consistency. Fill one decorating bag of each color and flood the middles of the cookies being careful not overflow at the sides.

8. Once the cookies are dry, brush the excess glitter off them where required and then pipe the detail on each cookie,using the reserved soft-peak icing and the detail for the pink lips with red icing; let dry.
